Jackie Sarvini (she/her) is an uninvited settler on the traditional, ancestral, and stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. In 2020, she graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Asian Canadian & Asian Migration Studies. Now, she works closely with various agencies to provide settlement services for Refugee Claimants and other migrant groups.
Guided by the wisdom of her elders and ancestors, Jackie actively advocates for and stands in solidarity with efforts to disrupt systemic barriers against marginalized groups. By working in collaboration with her peers, she seeks to create local opportunities for youth to become more involved in their communities, to challenge the status quo, and to reaffirm their own sense of self.
In working with everyone here at Check Your Head, she hopes to continue to build a curriculum of compassion among everyone on the team. Outside of her role, you can find her solving puzzles, slurping noodles, and singing at karaoke bars.
