Annette Angell

Annette believes strongly in the power of popular education to build collective knowledge and action. After finishing her Bachelor of Environmental Studies (B.E.S., minor in International Development Studies) at York University, she began working in the non-profit sector overseeing public health education campaigns and investigating complaints for the College of Opticians of BC. Since then, she has continued to work and volunteer for non-profits across Canada and internationally, including PINAY, a Filipino women’s organization in Montreal, West Coast Legal Education and Action Fund in Vancouver, and the Consortium on Gender, Security and Human Rights in Boston, MA. All of these experiences have contributed to her passion for public legal education and youth education and empowerment, which brought her to Check Your Head. She is currently completing her law degree (B.C.L./LL.B.) and working as a Support Worker at the AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre at UBC.

Annette is honoured to join the Board of Directors at Check Your Head and thrilled to support the essential work the organization does on a daily basis.
