Recruiting new Migrant Justice Facilitators

Get involved with Check Your Head and No One Is Illegal – Apply to be a volunteer facilitator for Migrant Justice!

Check Your Head is a youth-driven nonprofit organization working with young people to take action for social & environmental justice. Working together with No One Is Illegal, a grassroots anti-colonial migrant justice group with leadership from members of migrant and/or racialized backgrounds, we are excited to invite more volunteers to get involved with our newest workshop. If you are interested in facilitating a participatory education workshop on migrant justice this is your opportunity to apply!

How can I get involved?

We’re looking for youth with direct experience of migration and migrant issues to lead workshops with school and community groups. In addition to leading workshops, volunteers will also first take part in a weekend of facilitation training coming up in late February. Youth of all genders, abilities, backgrounds, of any status, and LGBT2IQ folks are encouraged to apply.

Some expectations you should keep in mind:

– This is an opportunity for self-identified youth only.
– You must be available for a 2 day weekend of mandatory training on Feb. 28th & Mar. 1. – The volunteer commitment is for at least one year.
– Our workshops are typically booked during daytime/school hours, and so volunteers must be flexible and able to facilitate at these times.
– Other workshops for adult allies may take place on evenings and weekends, and we’d like to hear of your ability to attend these events too.

Applications Due at 5pm on February 23rd

To apply, send a statement of interest (max. 500 words) to aleks@checkyourhead. org. Use this space to tell us about your own experience with and interest in migrant justice, and what issues are important to you! As well, please include a separate, brief explanation of your availability/schedule in 2015.
