The Market: Vancouver’s Farmer’s Markets

There is something so comforting about a bustling farmer’s market. Proud vendors carefully arrange their eatable masterpieces; local residents circle the market with hopeful eyes. It provides me with a sense of community in a society that is so individualistic and often so isolating.

An Ode to an Orange

The orange is the symbol of solidarity for all those who chose to be bold, to have the courage to speak out against an injustice. It is the story of welcoming change. Thus it is only fitting we celebrate the courage of the orange while the seasons change. This spring, I implore you to be bold; to be an orange amongst a crowd of apples. Spit out the seeds of ignorance, of stagnant thinking and share your unique segments with our diverse communities to enjoy in solidarity.

Coming to the Table

Some of the best discussions I’ve had with my family occurred at the dinner table over a meal prepared by us all. My peers now live off instant noodles, eggs, and cereal. When they begin families of their own, they won’t be passing down their family’s rich culinary knowledge – because they were “too busy.” I’d like to take this time to bring your attention to this tragedy. Food is what brings us all together as humans, regardless of race, language or creed.
